Weaving Payments Magic was a key part of Thredd's rebrand (formerly GPS). Redwood | BBDO captured Thredd's adept management of diverse fintech services in four scripts, and we were brought in to turn their vision into reality. Each fifteen-second film would showcase a key Thredd offering — payment cards, uptime, fraud prevention, and custom solutions — for a LinkedIn B2B audience, all in the new brand style: muted beige with bright accents.
The Process
Stop-motion animation with pixilation gave us a unique storytelling method. By manipulating hand models and props, we captured magic in camera — no need for VFX. We used 2D animations for each film to nail down timings and set the pace for each narrative.
Prop sourcing was meticulous to ensure seamless magic and transactions. We test shot scenarios in our studio, laying the groundwork for a smooth shoot. Replacement animation allowed for object transformations, while rigging techniques helped animate a real* burger and chips, landing flawlessly on a levitating plate. Sound design wrapped up the films, adding depth and personality.
*A note for the environmentally aware, it was a vegan burger as we are an Adgreen-trained production partner ;-P
